Leading in an AI world

The tools are the easy part. Getting your team to adopt them -- without chaos, resentment, or rogue usage -- is the real challenge. This session gives you the playbook.

THE PROBLEM

Why this matters

The tools are easy. The people part is hard.

You've seen what AI can do. Maybe you've even started using it yourself. But rolling it out to your team? That's a different problem entirely.

Some of your people are already experimenting on their own -- no guardrails, no consistency, and you have no idea what company data they're putting into these tools. Others are pretending AI doesn't exist, hoping it blows over like crypto did. And you're in the middle, trying to figure out the right move before the wrong one makes itself.

Most AI training skips this entirely. It teaches the tools and ignores the humans. But the human part -- the trust, the fear, the politics -- is what determines whether adoption sticks or fizzles out in six weeks.

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN

Outcomes

What you'll walk away with

Two focused hours on the human side of AI adoption -- the part that actually determines whether it works.

An adoption playbook

Step by step: what to roll out first, how to communicate it, how to handle resistance, and how to build momentum.

Your AI usage policy draft

What's encouraged, what's off-limits, how to handle sensitive data. A working document you can use immediately.

A team upskilling plan

Practical training plan tailored by role and readiness. Not one-size-fits-all -- your actual team, their actual gaps.

Practice with the hard conversations

How to talk with the worried employee, the unsanctioned power user, and the team that's waiting for permission.

This is for you if

  • You lead a team and need to introduce AI without losing trust or creating chaos
  • You're navigating the tension between moving fast and bringing your people along
  • You want a plan for your specific team, not a generic talk about the future of work

THE FORMAT

How you'll learn

How you'll learn

Leadership-focused. Practical exercises, not tech tutorials.

Your org, your plan

Every exercise is built around your actual team, culture, and challenges. You leave with documents you can use Monday.

Peer cohort

Work alongside other leaders facing the same challenges. The honest conversation is as valuable as the curriculum.

Roleplay the hard parts

Practice the real conversations: the skeptical employee, the overeager adopter, the all-hands announcement.

YOUR INSTRUCTOR

Who's teaching

Nick Basile

Founder, Markham Square

I've spent 15+ years building for the web as a software engineer and product designer. At Markham Square, I don't just build AI tools for businesses -- I help teams adopt them. That means working through the messy human stuff: resistance, confusion, excitement without direction.

I designed this workshop because the technology is the easy part. The hard part -- the part that determines whether AI adoption works or fizzles out -- is leading your people through the change. That's what we'll spend the session on.

THE AGENDA

2 hours

What we'll cover

Two hours on the leadership side of AI. The part nobody else teaches.

  1. The state of AI adoption

    20 min

What's actually happening in teams right now. Common patterns, common mistakes, and what separates leaders who get this right.

  2. Assess your team and draft your policy

    40 min

Map your team's AI readiness by role. Then draft usage guidelines: what's encouraged, what's off-limits, how to handle client data.

  3. Build your adoption roadmap

    35 min

Design the rollout: which roles first, what training looks like, how to measure success, how to handle the bumps.

  4. Practice the hard conversations

    20 min

Roleplay the real scenarios: the worried employee, the unsanctioned use, the team meeting. Get direct feedback.

  5. Wrap-up and action items

    5 min

Review your playbook, policy, and roadmap. Clear next steps and a peer group to stay accountable.

FAQ

Common questions

Is this a technical workshop?

No. This is about leadership, adoption strategy, and culture -- not tools and prompts. You won't need to open a terminal.

Should I bring my leadership team?

If possible, yes. Multiple leaders from the same org makes the exercises more realistic and the plans more actionable.

What if we haven't started using AI at all?

That's actually the best time to attend. It's much easier to introduce AI with a thoughtful plan than to retrofit guardrails after people have been experimenting on their own for months.

How many people are in the workshop?

Small group. The format depends on honest conversation and personalized feedback, so we keep it intimate.

What do I leave with?

Three documents: your AI usage policy draft, your team readiness assessment, and your adoption roadmap. Plus frameworks and templates you can adapt as things evolve.

What's included?

The workshop, all materials, and your completed policy, assessment, and roadmap in digital format.

How does this relate to the other workshops?

'Automating Your Business' focuses on operations and processes. This one focuses on people and culture. Leaders who attend both end up with a complete picture -- the what and the how.
